A local chef and social media influencer who turned his life around after serving time in prison is hosting a live cooking demonstration in aid of St Albans Community Pantry.
Jon Watts learned to cook in prison as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) program, which he credits with saving his life and unlocking his potential. Since then he has worked at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, authored two cookbooks, and amassed a large following on Instagram and TikTok.
Jon will be hosting a special charity event at Poggenpohl St Albans on March 26 from 7.30-9.30pm, raising awareness and funds for St Albans Community Pantry, helping to reduce food waste and food insecurity.
Jon will showcase recipes from his new book, ‘Speedy Weeknight Meals’ and share his culinary tips and tricks. On the night, attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of Jon’s book, or bring along their own copy to get it signed, with all proceeds going directly to the charity.
St Albans Community Pantry events coordinator Helen Whittington said: “We are very excited to be back at Poggenpohl for our next event. The icing on the cake is having Jon Watts joining us to showcase his amazing recipes and give us all the tips and tricks. With food from the Fleetville Larder and BYOB, it looks like a night not to be missed!” Tickets can be purchased at www.tinyurl.com/sacpjonwatts.
