Santa Paws was back in town for The Lower Red Lion’s annual pooch-themed fundraiser.

They have been hosting the event for the last few years after it was passed over by The Boot, and this year was helping St Albans Community Pantry.

Landlord David Worcester cooks for them for their annual Christmas community meal and so this year they thought we’d raise some money too!

The event seems to be getting more popular every year – this year Santa paws saw over 30 dogs in three hours and they raised nearly £400.

The dogs came in, snuggled up to Santa for their Christmas ‘pawtrait’ and received a festive goodie bag!

Sian O’’Sullivan from the pub said: “It’s often a challenge getting the dogs to sit still and look at the camera with all the fuss and excitement but we’re always armed with bribe treats and a trusty squeaky toy. Everyone seems to really enjoy coming and we thoroughly enjoy seeing all our regular pups and those who come down every year just for the event!”
