A St Albans city centre church is hoping that the person who helped themselves to a sentimental Bible might return it.
The St Albans Times contacted St Peter’s Church for an update on the theft of their holy book after a police appeal was launched around 10 days ago.
We suggested to the vicar that he might gift an alternative Bible to the person who took it, if they return the original one.
Vicar Mark Dearnley said: “St Peter’s would be happy to swap the lectern Bible for a usable pocket size edition.
“The lectern Bible was a gift to the church from a family in memory of a loved relative and therefore has significant personal – rather than monetary – value.”
If you can help reunite this church community with its Bible please contact us or St Peter’s church.
