The launch of this year’s St Albans Postboxes Christmas campaign has seen national media attention.
BBC News and ITV’s This Morning were among the outlets covering the initiative, prompted by Monday’s attempt to set a world record for the largest number of textile postbox toppers.
St Albans Times editor Matt Adams was one of the judges for the bid, which saw a staggering 102 woolly toppers together in one place – the Holiday Inn hotel at Colney Fields.
The official launch of this year’s campaign took place at St Albans Clock Tower on Thursday morning, attended by special guests including Mayor Cllr Jamie Day, MP Daisy Cooper and High Sheriff of Herts Annie Brewster.
Founded in 2018, St Albans Postboxes is a grassroots initiative dedicated to raising funds for local charities by decorating postboxes with creative, handmade toppers each Christmas. What started as a small community project has grown into a much-loved annual event, now setting its sights on a potential world record!
