Harpenden held its own moving Remembrance Sunday service, attended by service personnel, voluntary organisations and representatives from the town and county councils.
Recently elected MP Victoria Collins attended her first service in the role, joining dignitaries in the parade through the centre of town from the entrance to Rothamsted Park up to Church Green.
The service was conducted by the Revd. Cath Rindl, curate of St Nicholas Church. In attendance with the Town Mayor of Harpenden laying wreaths was Dr John Howie DL representing the Hertfordshire Lieutenancy, the Deputy Mayor of St Albans, Cllr Jenni Murray, Cllr Teresa Heritage of Hertfordshire County Council, Cllr Kate Sheffield, chair of Harpenden Rural Parish Council and representatives from organisations including the Scouts, Guides, Rotary, Harpenden UNA and the St Albans District Chamber of Commerce.
The Last Post was played by Roland Hills from the Salvation Army, who has done so for many years and the Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph were spoken by an Official of Harpenden Royal British Legion.
