A celebration of the charities and community organisations that make St Albans such a vibrant and caring place to live will be taking place at the Cathedral this weekend.
Last year’s inaugural Community Showcase was a tremendous success, bringing together a wide range of charities and local groups who had the opportunity to network, share their impactful work, and connect with new volunteers from the public.
The event was honoured by the presence of notable guests, including Daisy Cooper MP, the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire Robert Voss CBE CStJ, and the Mayor of St Albans.
This year’s showcase will feature over 60 charities and community organisations dedicated to various causes, from social justice initiatives to environmental conservation efforts. Representatives from each organisation will be present to share their stories, missions, and the positive changes they are driving in our local community. Engaging presentations and panel discussions will offer insights into the critical issues these groups address and how you could be involved.
A spokesperson said: “The Community Showcase is more than just an event; it’s a vibrant gathering where compassionate individuals come together to improve the lives of others. Whether you’re looking to learn more about local causes, find volunteer opportunities, or simply be inspired, this event offers something for everyone.
“No tickets are required for this free event – just come along and join us for a day of learning, inspiration, and community spirit. Meet local leaders, discover new ways to get involved, and help us celebrate the incredible work happening in St Albans.”
Participants include the Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership, Earthworks, Citizens Advice St Albans district, Centre 33, Emmaus, Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, Herts Young Homeless, The Ollie Foundation, Open Door, Sopwell Residents Association and St Albans Foodbank.
The Community Showcase takes place on Saturday October 12, from 11am to 3pm.
