An inspiring movement that started in St Albans and has since helped to boost the nightlife scene nationwide returned home for its third year with a long weekend of joyful and fun LBGTQ+ events.
Founded by and raising funds for the Ask for Clive campaign, Pub Pride saw celebrations kick off with an opening event at St Saviour’s Church jam-packed with entertainment, food, drink, talks and panels.
Co-founder and chair of Ask for Clive Danny Clare said: “We were once again thrilled with the support of St Albans venues to Pub Pride 2023 and the Ask For Clive campaign. “Nationally, we had some wonderful new partners and iconic LGBTQ+ venues taking part, but as always, our home city was setting the standard high.
“It’s humbling to see the commitment businesses have made to diversity and inclusion and we’re truly grateful to the pubs and venues that were prepared to put those colours on their door and show what they stand for.”
Sean Hughes, trustee of Ask For Clive and owner of Dylans at the Kings Arms, added: “Pub Pride is all about getting people into local pubs in cities, towns and villages all over the UK where maybe people wouldn’t usually have a Pride event. It’s an opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the diversity of people that come into and possibly work with your venue or in the venue.”
