St Columba’s College has announced another year of outstanding A level achievements from their second co-educational cohort.
Building on last year’s strong results, their A–A, A-B and A–C percentages have increased to 10-year record highs.
The school said these results represent many individual triumphs for these students who should be immensely proud of their achievements. Their conscientious approach, meticulous attention to detail, and true dedication to learning has been a fine example for younger year groups to emulate.
Among the most distinguished achievers are: Michael, with a full set of four A* grades in maths, further maths, physics and design technology, who will be going on to study aerospace engineering at the University of Bristol; and Sean with three A* grades who will be embarking on a degree in biology at the University of Bath.
Deputy head boy, Josh, has also gained three A* grades in maths, further maths and physics, together with an A in chemistry which has secured him a place at the University of Manchester to study mathematics and physics.
They are also delighted with the performance of Katie; with A* grades in history and politics and an A in English literature, she will commence a degree in Politics and International Relations at the University of Birmingham. Likewise, Arthur’s academic prowess is demonstrated by his two A* grades and one A grade, which will enable him to study mathematics at Bristol.
Students will be progressing in a plethora of different fields and subject areas including law, computer science, pharmacy, physiotherapy, theology, linguistics, finance and architecture to name but a few. As well as degree courses, we are also proud of those who have secured competitive places on apprenticeship schemes.
Headmaster Karl Guest said: “I am delighted with the excellent achievements of our students as they prepare for the next stage of their academic journey. St Columba’s College is not only proud of these high achievements that our students have obtained, but also delighted that these young people leave us as world ready learners. Once again, our results have improved year on year, and our students now embark on high-level, undergraduate courses at the top universities across the country. I could not be prouder of these young people and of our committed, dedicated and high quality teachers who have brought them to this point.
“These exceptional results are testament to the determination, care and support shown to our students by our passionate academic staff. Motivated by the charism of our founder, Father Andre Coindre, our teachers ensure that all students enjoy a holistic education, which is nurtured by personal attention and committed to academic excellence.
“We offer our congratulations to all the students and wish them every success in all their future endeavours. We are sure that they will flourish and demonstrate the numerous Columban virtues in their many and varied career paths.”
