The Great Big Walk for Herts is back with a new distance and a new location on September 28.
Led by a guide from the Hertfordshire Way and raising funds for Herts Young Homeless, the circular half marathon loop will start and finish at Heartwood Forest and will take in Wheathampstead, Brocket Park and Nomansland.
The event is £15 per person or £40 for a group of four and participants will be encouraged to raise sponsorship, all of which will be doubled thanks to matchfunding. The fundraising team at Herts Young Homeless will offer support and advice and the walk includes lunch courtesy of St Helen’s Church, Wheathampstead.
Community fundraising officer Nicola MacKinnon said: “A half marathon sounds like a long way to walk, but this loop is quite flat, very beautiful and we will be taking it at a sensible pace! We are so grateful to St Helen’s for providing the lunch this year and giving us a lovely place to stop and recharge. We would love to have as many people as possible walking with us this year and thanks to our partners, Helping Herts, all of your sponsorship is doubled so you will make a real difference with every mile you walk.”
There is no age limit for the walk (anyone under 18 must be with an adult) and dogs on leads are welcome.
