A cadet from St Columba’s College will have a special role to play at tomorrow’s Coronation of King Charles III.
RSM Josh Watson has been selected to carry the Combined Cadet Force national banner during the ceremony.
The prestigious honour is in recognition of his success at the Champion Cadet competition. Josh was awarded the Captain General’s Trophy in the national event, which tests the skills and abilities of cadets from across the UK.
The cadet program at St Columba’s College is a unique and essential part of the school’s curriculum, aiming to develop leadership skills, teamwork, resilience, and character in its participants through challenging and exciting activities, including fieldcraft, navigation, shooting, and adventure training.
RSM Watson was recently promoted alongside fellow cadet CSM Marcus Passmore, and both young men will represent St Columba’s College and command the Harris Academy at the CCF Summer Camp as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential.
The Coronation celebrations do not end with RSM Watson though, as the school holds a special commemorative concert next weekend.
St Columba’s College Coronation Concert will feature the works of Parry, Vaughan Williams, and Handel, and take place on Saturday May 13 at 3pm sharp.
The free concert is open to the public and will include a range of talented performers showcasing some of the most iconic pieces of classical music.
