Forget about England’s impending Euros final, there’s a local team who are worthy of celebrating for their own finals achievement.
Fleetville Junior School’s girls’ football team excelled in the Premier League Primary Stars competition, a primary school education programme which uses the appeal of football to inspire children aged five to 11 to be active and develop essential skills.
Representing Watford FC, the team stood out among 23,000 participants nationwide, reaching the final at Brentford Stadium in London.
Alhough they didn’t win the competition, the team earned the Fair Play award, recognising their outstanding attitude and sportsmanship.
On Friday, Fleetville Junior School celebrated this achievement with special guests including representatives from Watford FC, Daisy Cooper MP, manager of Watford’s Women’s team Helen Ward, and a Premier League representative. The event featured the Premier League trophy, delighting the entire school community.
Headteacher Clare Whitehouse said: “We are incredibly proud of our girls’ football team. Their dedication and sportsmanship have been exemplary, truly embodying our school values of Be Inspired, Be Kind, and Be Accomplished.”
