No sooner have they finished their A-levels, but a group of five Sandringham School students are heading off to tackle the Three Peaks Challenge.
Oliver Philpot, Harry Cooke, Jack Lambe, Jack Barnett and Jason Tsangari want to bring attention to the fight against prostate cancer.
They will start off by climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland before travelling down to England’s Scafell Pike. They will finish off at Mount Snowdon in Wales, hopefully within the time frame of 24 hours.
Organiser Oliver explained their motivation for taking part: “Prostate cancer is a health issue that affects one in eight men in their lifetime. When we learned this statistic, it became clear to us that at least one of us, or someone close to us, could be affected by this disease. This realisation has deeply motivated us to take action and raise awareness about prostate cancer.
“We believe that awareness is the first step towards early detection and successful treatment. We hope to encourage men of all ages to get regular check-ups and to understand the risk factors associated with prostate cancer.
“Any donations received will go directly towards Prostate Cancer UK, which is dedicated to prostate cancer research, support services, and educational programs. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to a world where prostate cancer can be detected early and treated effectively.”
