Residents have contacted the St Albans Times this morning after noticing a large police presence in the city centre and Verulamium Park.
A spokesperson for Herts Constabulary has now reassured readers that there is no cause for alarm.
“We were called at 11.37am today after a member of the public spotted a man with what they thought to be a knife.
“Officers attended the scene, alongside the Armed Policing Unit, as a precaution.
“We found the man and searched him and we are pleased to let you know that he was not in possession of a knife.”
