Bands and solo artists from across the district are in with a chance of performing at food and music festival Pub in the Park when it returns to St Albans in September.
A joint competition with music media, events and management company Headliner is offering up-and-coming talent the chance to perform on the main stage.
Four winning acts will each support a headliner at the event – Paloma Faith, Olly Murs, Scouting for Girls or Tinie Tempah – over the weekend of September 6-8.
After submitting a video of you or your band performing, acts that make it through to the live heats will be invited to perform at The Pioneer Club throughout August, where a panel of judges will select the winning acts to make it to the main stage at the festival.
Steve Lane of Pub in the Park, said: “We’re really excited to run this competition with Headliner to win a chance to perform on our main stage – something which is unique to the St Albans festival. We really wanted to get more involved with the community in St Albans this year and we know that the local music scene is thriving and is something the people in the area are very proud of, so we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to give some fledgling acts their first big break. Who knows – we might discover the next Paloma Faith or Scouting for Girls!”
Paul Watson of Headliner added: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Pub in the Park to offer independent artists this incredible opportunity and we hope that as many acts as possible head over to our site and enter the competition. St Albans is so lucky to have Pub in the Park rock up every year in the stunning setting of Verulamium Park. It’s a great festival celebrating music and food, which is for everyone, of every age, and it’s a wonderful place for a new act to show what they’ve got and smash in on a main stage, alongside world-famous artists.”
This year’s festival promises an unforgettable fusion of gastronomic delights, entertainment, and live music. The St Albans line-up is set to be bigger and better than ever, with new chefs, new restaurants, new drinks and new experiences – celebrating the best of British pub culture in Verulamium Park throughout the weekend.
To be in with a chance of winning the chance to perform at Pub in the Park, you must enter by July 26 – just go to Instagram and @emergingheadliner for details. All acts must be from the local area and be available to perform on August 3, 10 and 17.
