Legally Blonde arrives at St Albans theatre

Legally Blonde is coming to the Abbey Theatre

Never underestimate a fashionista on a mission – or St Albans Youth Music Theatre for that matter!

They are bringing the glitz and glamour of Legally Blonde to the Abbey Theatre in April. The musical, with music and lyrics music by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach is based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the 2001 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture starring Reese Witherspoon.

The musical tells the story of sorority girl Elle Woods whose dreams of marriage to the wealthy Warner Huntington III are shattered when he decides he needs a serious girlfriend. Instead of wallowing in her sorrow, Elle vows to go to law school and show Warner, and the world, exactly what she can do.

As Elle, her love of all things pink and fashion forward, battles to be taken seriously, she comes up against the biggest challenge of her life. As she steps up to support an active lawsuit, can she maintain the trust placed in her and secure justice for her idol, Brooke Windham?

“Legally Blonde is a musical with it all – style, scandal and a superb score. It has been a pleasure working with the talented cast from St Albans Youth Music Theatre bringing this to life and we’re really looking forward to sharing the sparkle and fun with our audiences,” said director Grace Carson.

Under all the music and make up lies an important message – “You must always have faith in people. And, most importantly, you must always have faith in yourself.”

Performances take place on the Abbey Theatre Main Stage:

Thursday –Saturday April 4-6, 7.30pm

Matinee – Saturday April 6, 2.30pm
